This is because Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) Tree Authority got the permission of cutting or transplanting about 2700 trees in the Aarey colony Mumbai Maharashtra for metro train work.
• What is the actual matter?
The MMRC Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. developing a rapid transit system that serves the city of Mumbai, Maharashtra and the wider metropolitan region.The Mumbai metro line 3 known as an aqua line of Mumbai metro is a 33.5-kilometer-long line from Colaba -to- Bandra underground metro line having sanctioned depot in Aarey Milk Colony in Mumbai.
Because of this depot, MMRC asking permission to BMC for cutting 2700 trees in Aarey milk colony just for car parking shade! Of Mumbai metro. Moreover, BMC approves the proposal of cutting 2700 trees. The authority approved permission of cutting 2,185 trees and transplanting (uprooting trees from the original spot and replanting them at an alternate spot) of 461 trees from the area.A 44-year-old resident filed a petition in the Bombay High Court on Tuesday against a proposal of cutting trees passed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.

• About Aarey Milk Colony:-
The Aarey Milk Colony (also Aarey Colony) is situated in Goregaon (East), a suburb of the city of Mumbai was established in 1949 to revolutionize the processing and marketing of dairy products in the city. Aarey forest spread over 16 km2 (16 sq. mi) and Aarey Milk Colony occupies a total area of 3,166 acres of land, out of which the area available for cultivation of quality fodder and grasses is 400 acres only. Land is also leased out to various organizations and institutions of the Maharashtra State Government and Central Government. Aarey forest includes 12 villages with film city also and has some famous picnic spot like Chhota Kashmir. It includes lakes, milk plant and some wild species of animals.

Maharashtra’s regional political party Shiv Sena opposed this proposal. Shiv Sena youth Wing leader Aaditya Thackeray alleged that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnvis had been misled on this issue.Where National Joint Secretary of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) also condemned the tree's felling of decision and asked people to vote out parties responsible for this decision. Meeting that held for the proposal in which Congress members walked out, leading to the BJP, NCP, and experts allowing the proposal to be a pass.Some Political parties blaming Congress for walking out of such an important meeting.
