Mumbai - Pune Hyperloop Project Status | Why Government Stop It?

A Hyperloop an ultrafast transportation technology is now known to everyone. India is among the top three countries in the world who tested hyperloop run for the two megacities of Maharashtra State, Mumbai, and Pune route. Many Indian people are curious and excited about the Mumbai - Pune Hyperloop current status.

Mumbai - Pune Hyperloop Project Status. 

The Mumbai - Pune Hyperloop mega project is now stopped by the new Shivsena, NCP, and Congress alliance Maha Vikas Aghadi Government of Maharashtra. The government declared that the project like hyperloop is currently at an experimental stage even the companies like Virgin Hyperloop One and SpaceX currently testing this transport technology. Government specify that Investing thousand crore rupees in such experimental project is not good idea .

Why government stop hyperloop project?

The new government put a halt on various multi-thousand crore rupees projects declared by the ex BJP Government which includes Mumbai - Ahmedabad Bullet Train project, Nagpur - Mumbai Samruddhi Mahamarg (Nagpur-Mumbai super communication expressway), Aarey metro car shed project by saying that such projects required huge government funds and need more research on it .

The Mumbai - Pune Hyperloop project was declared by the former Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) Government of Maharashtra in which government signed an MoU via PMRDA(Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority) with the world-famous company Virgin Hyperloop One in 2017. This project cost was around $10 Billion (70,000 crores) where the project's first phase cost is 5000 crore rupees and the next phase cost is 65000 crore rupees. At the time project declared the former chief minister of Maharashtra Government Mr. Devendra Fadnavis visited the Hyperloop one project test site in the USA.

As per the Virgin Hyperloop Project test, this revolutionary medium of transport covered the distance between Mumbai to Pune that is of 93 Miles (150 Kilometer) in just 24 minutes with a whopping speed of 750 miles (1200Km) per hour.

NCP spokesperson MLA Nawab Malik also stated that investing a huge amount of money in such projects which is at the experimental stage is not a good idea. He also added that there will be no confirmation that the Hyperloop project became successful or Not.

Virgin Group founder Sir Richard Branson met with the new chief minister of Maharashtra state Shri. Uddhav Thackeray for discussion regarding with Mumbai - Pune Hyperloop project.

Where Mr. Harj Dhaliwal, Managing Director, Middle East & India, Virgin Hyperloop One said that "this meeting encouraged us to look forward to working with the state of Maharashtra for the progress of the project.

Conclusion:

 In India, it's obvious that the newly elected government reviews the projects declared by the old ruling government, in some cases various projects may also get canceled. To understand such a big expenditure project it's always good to understand it in all aspects. Due to the covid19 pandemic country facing big financial crises in such cases it's necessary to first complete the most important and needy projects. Although Maharashtra government mentioned that they are reviewing and studying more about Hyperloop project.
